Many Firsts

Isaac has been growing and changing so much! We just love this holiday time and it is so special to have him home with us. When we heard of Isaac's diagnosis, we didn't know if he would be home for the holidays. I am so happy to say he surpassed many doctors expectations and has only been in the hospital about a total of 6 weeks in his life, rather than 6 months like some said. Here we are approaching Isaac's 6 month birthday and he is THRIVING. That's right! Sometimes our hearts know better than what any doctor could predict. Here are some of Isaac's "firsts" that have recently been happening: *Isaac's first Thanksgiving

*Isaac's first Ohio State-Michigan Game

*Isaac's first sight of a Christmas tree

* Isaac's first St. Nicholas Day

  1. I am Jill's mother, Carol, who loves the excitement of "first's"!. Jill gave us many proud "first" moments in her life, and I must say that as a Grandmummy, my world continues to be delighted with Gabe and Isaac's "firsts", as well as the "first's" of my other daughter's family and their four children! It is a joy to celebrate their accomplishments with them.

The storm that preceeded Isaac's birth is a story to be told, but the gift at the end of the sunbeams is priceless! Isaac is such a caring, gentle soul. His interaction with his world amazes me and I am touched how such a little boy can influence and make a difference in so many people's lifes. His story of hope, determination, and faith speaks volumes. Gabriel is such a good brother. Often, you will see Gabe sucking his thumb and holding his CC's. He will walk over, pat Isaac and drop one or two CC's on Isaac. He is sharing his favorite comfort circle and telling Isaac it will be ok. Absolutely adorable!

Love abounds in Isaac's world. I am happy to be part of Isaac's many "first's". One of my favorites was scooping him in my arms when the kids came home for Thanksgiving and taking him over to the tree. I wanted to be first to see the wonderment in his eyes as he saw the sparkle of the tree's lights and watch the train under the tree. Love was aglow!

It is with this love that our family begins to celebrate this holiday season, and all of Isaac's "first's". Between Isaac's A goo's and jabber, smile, and raising of his eyebrow, I think Isaac is saying for all of us to always have hope for tomorrow, and do the best we can each day. Have faith that obstacles we face each day can be overcome; perhaps in a different manner and at a different pace. And to remember that love is the greatest gift to all to be happy.

I am so happy and honored to be a part of this family's love and many "first's" of all! Thank you Isaac for these many "first's" and Happy Holidays!

    Love,
    Grandmummy
