Day 19: Spina Bifida Kids

I can honestly say that the "S" in Isaac's complex has always worried me the most.  Knowing that spina bifida causes problems with mobility really scares me.  I feel like it is such a harsh thing to take away someone's ability to walk.  I never imagined having a child with spina bifida.  I remember my sister telling me years ago that I should be taking extra folic acid to prevent this, so I did.  I thought it was my "insurance" for my child....

Sometimes we can't prevent everything.  We are not immune to defects, disease or hardship.  Sometimes things happen.

Sometimes God has a different plan.

I am doing my best to learn about spina bifida so that we can help Isaac succeed.  I am learning that wheelchairs aren't the end of the world.... in fact, they are the key to his world.  I am learning that spina bifida doesn't define him or anyone else with it.

I have found a couple of great blogs of adorable kids  that just happen to have spina bifida.

And this little guy reminds me of both of my little fellas.  Little Greyson is adorable and it looks like his wheels and walker don't keep him from doing things one bit!

Today I pray for all of the families of children with spina bifida.  I pray that they do anything their hearts desire!

  1. Isaac is so stinking cute in this photo! Just think of how he'll be zipping around on those new floors!
